FTSE 100 dividend stocks can be a great source of passive income. However, investors need to be selective when investing in these shares as dividends can be cut or cancelled at any time and there’s also the risk of capital losses.

Here, I’m going to highlight a Footsie share that to me, looks like a solid income bet. With a high dividend yield and low valuation, could it be worth considering for a Stocks and Shares ISA or Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP)?

Attractive levels of income on offer

The stock in focus today is insurance and wealth management powerhouse Aviva (LSE: AV.). It’s lagged the broader UK market this year and, at current levels, I believe it’s worth a closer look.

The dividend yield certainly looks attractive. With analysts forecasting a payout of 41.5p per share for 2026 and 44.6p for 2027, we’re looking at yields of around 6.5% and 7% at today’s share price.

On a £10,000 investment, that translates to income of around £650 and £700 a year. Investors shouldn’t bank on this level of income however, as those dividend figures above are just estimates.

What’s encouraging though, is that dividend coverage, or the ratio of earnings per share to dividends per share, is solid at around 1.4 times. This suggests there’s a relatively low chance of the dividend coming in at substantially lower levels.

One other thing to note is that the company’s current dividend policy involves growing the cash cost of its payout by mid-single digits annually. Given that its payout for 2025 was 39.3p per share, those forecasts stack up.

A low valuation

Looking beyond the dividend, we also have a relatively low valuation. With analysts expecting earnings per share of 58.p this year, the forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is only 11.

There could be some value on offer at that multiple. It’s worth noting that the average analyst price target is 706p – about 10% above the current share price.

Business momentum

Importantly, the company’s performing well at the moment. For example, recent Q1 results showed a 19% year-on-year increase in general insurance premiums (this was helped by the acquisition of Direct Line) along with wealth net flows of £3.3bn versus £2.3bn a year earlier.

“We have made an excellent start to 2026. Our continued strong trading performance, high quality balance sheet, and diverse set of leading businesses, gives us confidence that we are well placed to meet our group targets, and deliver even more for our customers and shareholders this year.”

Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc

I’ll point out that I see a lot of potential in the company’s wealth management division, which now has assets under management of around £230bn. This division should do well as markets rise over time and people save and invest more for retirement.

Worth a look?

Now, there are plenty of risks here, of course. One that’s worth highlighting is potential volatility in the UK government bond markets due to political uncertainty – this could impact the value of fixed-income securities on Aviva’s balance sheet.

With the stock trading well off its recent highs though, I like the risk/reward skew. For those seeking passive income, this FTSE 100 stock could be worth a closer look.

Should you invest £5,000 in Aviva Plc right now?

When investing expert Mark Rogers and his team have a stock tip, it can pay to listen. After all, the flagship Twelfth Magpie Share Advisor newsletter he has run for nearly a decade has provided thousands of paying members with top stock recommendations from the UK and US markets.

One growth stock that’s on fire right now is trading and investment platform operator Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD). Since the end of March, it’s gained about 50%.

Looking ahead, I see potential for significant gains from here. Because not only is this company benefitting from rising stock markets and increased interest in investing, but it’s also exceptionally well positioned to benefit from the ‘Great Wealth Transfer’.

A true innovator

Robinhood’s an incredible company. Compared to UK investment platforms such as Hargreaves Lansdown and AJ Bell, it’s in a different league.

Today, it offers (deep breath) commission-free trading, fractional shares, crypto trading, prediction markets, options and futures trading, a platform for advanced traders, AI-powered stock analysis, social trading, private markets access, a credit card with numerous perks, bulk FX transfers, wealth management and retirement investing services… and more.

With Hargreaves Lansdown and AJ Bell, we don’t even have commission-free trading!

Rapid growth

Given this extensive list of innovative features, the platform’s incredibly popular, especially with younger investors. Today, the company has over 27m funded accounts globally, versus around 5m for Interactive Brokers and two million for Hargreaves Lansdown.

As more and more people invest with the company, its revenues are surging. Last year for example, revenue amounted to $4.5bn versus $1.9bn two years earlier.

Looking ahead, analysts expect the growth to continue. Currently, the consensus revenue forecasts for 2026 and 2027 sit at around $5bn and $6.2bn respectively.

One area of the business that’s expected to drive strong growth in the near term is prediction markets. Right now, interest in this form of betting is off the charts.

The long-term growth story

While this is all very positive, it’s the long-term story that really draws me in. Because, as I said at the top, this company’s very well positioned to benefit from the Great Wealth Transfer.

You see, around 75% of Robinhood’s customers are Millennials or Gen Z. Given that these generations are expected to inherit a large chunk of the $80trn or so that’s expected to be passed down in the next few decades, the firm could potentially see its assets under management surge in the long run.

It’s worth noting that the company’s fully aware of the opportunity here. As a result, it’s making moves to build lasting relationships with its clients, many of whom could be investing for the next three or four decades.

For example, it recently acquired TradePMR – a custodial and portfolio management platform for Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) – to enhance its investment advisory capabilities. For those in the US, it also offers matched contributions on Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

“The needs of Robinhood customers are evolving and they are seeking advice on how to build and manage their growing portfolios.”

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev

An investment opportunity?

Now, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in the investing world and this is very much the case here. There are numerous risks.

One is the crypto market. This is a key revenue driver for the company and when conditions are weak it can impact growth.

Another’s the valuation. The forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio’s about 50, which is high and tends to lead to elevated levels of share price volatility.

Taking a long-term view however, I’m very bullish. In my view, this growth stock’s worth considering.

Should you invest £5,000 in Robinhood Markets right now?

South Korean memory chip powerhouse SK Hynix (NASDAQ: SKHY) is about to list on the Nasdaq. On 10 July, it will launch American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) on the US exchange.

Should I buy the stock for my ISA? Or are there better opportunities out there?

An introduction to SK Hynix

A manufacturer of DRAM and NAND products, SK Hynix is one of largest memory chip companies in the world. Along with Samsung and Micron, it’s part of the ‘Big Three’ that dominates global memory production.

Where it has an edge is High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), which is used in AI chips made by the likes of Nvidia. It made aggressive bets on HBM early on and as a result, it has a 55%-60% market share here today.

Huge growth

Given that demand for HBM’s sky-high right now, and the company has pricing power, it’s seeing strong growth. In Q1, revenue came in at KRW 52,576bn, up 198% year on year.

“As memory becomes increasingly critical in AI computing, demand for high-performance memory is surging while supply remains constrained, expect favourable pricing environment to continue for the time being”.

SK Hynix Q1 results

Growth isn’t the only thing to like about this business as it’s also very profitable. In Q1, net profit was up a whopping 398% to KRW 40,346bn.

In terms of valuation, it looks attractive. With analysts forecasting earnings per share of KRW 315,000 this year, the forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio’s only about eight.

Up 800% in a year!

On the downside, the stock’s up about 800% over the last year. I’m not a big fan of buying after surges like this as there are often big pullbacks.

Another issue is that in the past, demand for memory has been extremely cyclical. Things could be changing here due to the AI boom and the fact that memory companies are signing longer-term contracts with buyers. But at this stage, we can’t rule out another memory slowdown in the years ahead.

It’s worth noting that if demand did slow, SK Hynix’s earnings could take a big hit. In this scenario, the stock obviously wouldn’t look so cheap.

A better chip stock?

Given the 800% gain in SK Hynix over the last year, I can’t help but feel there are better chip stocks to be buying for my portfolio at the moment. Broadcom’s (NASDAQ: AVGO) an example.

It’s also growing at a spectacular rate. Last quarter, AI revenue grew 143% year on year while total revenue was up 48%.

Meanwhile, it also has an attractive valuation. Looking at earnings forecasts for the financial year starting in November, the P/E ratio is under 20.

Unlike SK Hynix however, there’s not a lot of hype around the name. In fact, it’s a little out of favour (down about 20% from recent highs).

Over the last year, it’s ‘only’ up about 40%. I’m a lot more comfortable buying after that kind of rise versus buying after a 800% hyper-gain.

Of course, it faces some of the same risks as SK Hynix. If the AI boom stalls, demand for Broadcom’s chips could slow.

Overall though, I like the risk/reward skew. I’ve been building a position in this stock recently and will continue to buy while it’s down.

Should you invest £5,000 in Broadcom right now?

When investing expert Mark Rogers and his team have a stock tip, it can pay to listen. After all, the flagship Twelfth Magpie Share Advisor newsletter he has run for nearly a decade has provided thousands of paying members with top stock recommendations from the UK and US markets.

And right now, Mark thinks there are 6 standout stocks that investors should consider buying. Want to see if Broadcom made the list?

Meta Platforms‘ (NASDAQ: META) stock has really underperformed. Since mid-August last year, it’s fallen from around $800 to $560 – a drop of around 30%.

Is it time to add this ‘Magnificent 7’ name to my ISA? Let’s discuss.

Meta looks cheap

Meta shares do look cheap right now. With analysts expecting earnings per share of $32.90 for 2026, we’re looking at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 17. That’s a low earnings multiple for a Mag 7 company. It’s actually below the US market average.

So there appears to be some value on offer at first glance. Especially when you consider this company’s dominance in the social media space.

The valuation also looks low relative to the expected level of growth here. This year, analysts expect revenue to come in at around $253bn – an increase of 26% year on year.

What’s the market telling us?

Of course, when a stock has a low valuation, it’s worth digging deeper to find out why. Because a low multiple can signal that the market sees some risks or red flags.

In this case, I see a few issues. For a start, there’s the fact that Meta’s spending money at an unprecedented scale in an effort to become more of an AI company.

This year, it’s expected to spend up to $145bn. The problem is that there’s no guarantee this will pay off in the long run as no one really knows how the AI revolution will play out.

One thing to note here is that unlike other Mag 7 companies such as Amazon and Alphabet, Meta doesn’t offer cloud computing services. This puts it at a major disadvantage.

Because when these other businesses spend tens of billions of dollars buying Nvidia or AMD GPUs or building data centres, they can absorb the blow by renting out their compute power to enterprise customers at a premium. Meta isn’t able to do this.

More uncertainty

Another issue is that regulators are massively cracking down on the company’s social media platforms. For example, here in the UK, the government recently announced that from spring 2027, under-16s will no longer be able to use Facebook and Instagram.

Other countries that have made the same move or are thinking about doing so include Australia, Indonesia, France, and Spain. So this issue can’t be ignored – it could have an impact on the company’s growth.

Finally, there’s the fact that Meta’s facing thousands of lawsuits. These are mainly related to child safety and platform addictiveness. I don’t expect them to wipe the company out given how much cash flow it generates. But they do add some uncertainty.

The bull case

So there are quite a few issues to be aware of here. Ultimately, things look a bit messy at the moment.

That said, on the plus side, we have a company that is:

Led by a founder with a great track record.

One of the biggest players in the fast-growing digital advertising market.

Using AI across its platforms very effectively today.

Launching new AI services and tools.

So there are definitely reasons to be bullish.

Will I buy?

For me though, the negative issues highlighted above outweigh the bull case. So I’m not going to buy the stock today. Others might see things differently though. For contrarian investors, the shares might be worth considering.

Shares in both Shell (LSE: SHEL) and BP (LSE: BP.) have tanked. With oil prices normalising amid an easing of geopolitical tensions, we’ve seen share price declines of around 20% for both oil majors.

Could now be the time to consider buying these blue-chip stocks for an ISA or Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) given that they’ve come down significantly in price? Let’s discuss.

Attractive levels of dividend income

Looking at these names today, I can definitely see some appeal. For a start, we now have much higher dividend yields than we had a few months ago when their share prices were at elevated levels.

At present, the consensus dividend forecasts for 2026 are:

Shell: $1.63 per share

BP: $0.338 per share

At current share prices, these forecasts translate to yields of 4.2% and 5.5%. So these shares could be a nice source of passive income.

It’s worth noting here that dividend coverage, or the ratio of earnings per share to dividends per share, is very high for both stocks. This suggests that there’s minimal chance of a dividend cut in the near term.

Low valuations

Second, we have attractive valuations. Looking at earnings forecasts, Shell’s trading on a forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 7.7 while BP’s on 7.1.

Now, I’ll point out that for oil companies, the P/E ratio isn’t the greatest indicator of value because earnings (the E in P/E) tend to be both volatile and unpredictable. Still, there appears to be some value on offer today.

A defensive hedge

One other thing I like about these stocks is that they can be a good hedge against geopolitical uncertainty and/or rising oil prices. This was illustrated earlier in the year when the US/Iran conflict kicked off.

While other areas of the market fell, Shell and BP shares surged. So they could potentially play a valuable role in a portfolio as defensive assets.

The risks

On the downside, there’s the volatility and unpredictability of earnings I mentioned above. With these companies, revenues and profits are closely linked to oil prices and these can swing wildly.

If oil prices were to continue falling, we could see weakness in the two companies’ share prices. This could offset any dividend income received.

Another risk to consider is the global shift to renewable energy. This could impact demand for oil in the long run.

Note that while Shell and BP have maintained their net-zero by 2050 pledges, both companies have made major strategic moves away from rapid renewable energy expansion in recent years. In other words, their fossil fuel operations are the priority.

One S&P 500 stock I’m very bullish on right now is Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ: AXON). It’s well off its highs at the moment and I’ve been taking advantage of the weakness and snapping up shares for my portfolio.

It seems I’m not the only one who has been buying recently. Earlier this week, it came to light that US President Donald Trump bought shares (via a trust) in the public security company in February.

Trump invested up to $5m in Axon

Axon has been lumped into the software basket this year and a result, it has had a big pullback. Recently however, it has started to rebound as investors have realised that this company – which makes Tasers, police bodycams, anti-drone solutions, and more – isn’t a standard software company.

It seems news that Trump bought between $1m and $5m worth of Axon shares in February has given the stock an extra boost. Since that news came to light on 29 June, it has surged from $465 to $560.

Is it too late to consider buying?

I don’t think it’s too late to get involved here. Because the stock is still well below its highs.

And while the valuation is lofty, it isn’t crazy. Looking at earnings forecasts for 2027, the forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is about 50, which isn’t that high for a company that is consistently growing its top line at 30%+ per year.

It’s worth noting that this is a very innovative company. As an example, it is currently working on the Apollo Cartridge – a policing weapon system that fires non-lethal bullets.

We’re on a mission to make the bullet obsolete.
Axon CEO Rick Smith

Another example is its Guardian system, which can be integrated onto its body cameras. This uses AI to monitor situations for signs of escalation, and can automatically call for back-up if a police officer is in trouble.

This innovation should help to drive growth in the future. So should international expansion – at present most of its sales come from the US.

Institutional investor interest

I’ll point out that a few big-name investors have been buying Axon shares this year while they’ve been out of favour. One such investor is Scottish firm Baillie Gifford, which runs the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust.

To my mind, buying activity from this firm is very encouraging. Because it has a track record of identifying high-growth businesses and making a ton of money from them.

Significant long-term potential

In terms of risks, the big one is a slowdown in growth. If revenue growth was to moderate, we could see valuation compression.

Another risk is competition from rivals such as Motorola. It’s a major player in public security today.

Taking a three-to-five-year view, however, I see a lot of potential so I think the stock is worth a look. With revenues forecast to rise significantly, I expect the share price to move substantially higher.

That said, it’s likely to be a turbulent ride. This is a stock that is very volatile.

The FTSE 100 index has delivered decent gains in 2026. Year to date, it’s up about 6%.

Investors could have pocketed much bigger gains from individual UK stocks though. Take a look at the CMC Markets (LSE: CMCX) share price – it’s up about 90%.

I’ve been bullish on CMC Markets for a while

I’ve covered the trading and investment platform operator a few times this year. And I’ve always been bullish on the stock given the high level of volatility in the financial markets at the moment.

I was right to be bullish. Because the stock just keeps rising – today it has jumped another 23% on the back of a brilliant trading update.

A huge hike to guidance

In the update, the company says that the momentum that it highlighted in its FY26 results has continued to build and scale. As a result, the group now expects net operating income for FY27 to be at least £550m, materially ahead of previous guidance of £460m to £480m, with EBITDA guidance of £250m.

“The strength of this performance reflects the scale of our B2B platforms driving operational gearing and delivering higher profit margins as income growth is delivered against a largely fixed cost base.”
CMC Markets

It goes on to say that performance is being driven by the operational gearing of its B2B platforms (CMC provides whitelabel trading platforms for other institutions). It adds that the B2B platform business is well positioned to scale with several important milestones expected over the next 12 months and a continuous pipeline of new opportunities.

Worth considering for an ISA or SIPP?

Is there an investment opportunity to consider here? I think so.

While the stock has had a great run this year, I see the potential for further gains in the medium to long run. Taking a three-to-five year view, I reckon this company will deliver impressive returns for investors.

One reason I’m bullish is the backdrop that I noted above. Financial markets continue to be volatile, and this is drawing in traders and investors, which is great for a trading and investment platform operator like CMC Markets.

Another is the company’s B2B operations. Not only do these operations give the company a high level of scalability but they also have the potential to push profits up sharply due to the largely fixed cost base.

Finally, there’s the valuation. It still looks reasonable, even after today’s 23% share price pop.

Before today, the stock was trading on a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of about 12.8 looking at the consensus earnings forecast of 35.8p per share. If we assume that earnings will now be 10% higher than previous forecasts, the P/E ratio is still only about 14.

I’ll point out that there also’s a nice dividend here. At present, the yield is around 3.2%.

Now, there are risks of course. A slowdown in trading activity and competition from bigger rivals are two to think about.

Overall though, I see the risk/reward skew as attractive. I believe CMC Markets shares are worth considering.

In the years ahead, we’re likely to see the first $10trn company. With numerous technology stocks including Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Apple, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG), Amazon, and SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) already boasting multi-trillion-dollar market-caps, hitting this milestone seems inevitable.

Will it be Nvidia that gets there first? Or could Alphabet or SpaceX do it? Let’s discuss.

The path to $10trn

To try and answer this question, I’m going to look at three things:

Market-cap today.

Current valuation.

Growth drivers.

By looking at these three different factors, we might be able to get some clues as to which company’s likely to hit $10trn first.

Market-caps

In terms of market-cap today, Nvidia has the largest at $4.7trn (as I write on 30 June). Alphabet isn’t far behind though – it’s at $4.3bn. Zooming in on SpaceX, it’s at $2.2trn. So it’s a fair bit smaller than the other two.

What this means is that it’s going to require the least work, in terms of market-cap appreciation, for Nvidia to get to $10trn. It only needs a little more than a doubling in size to get there. By contrast, SpaceX would need to grow its market-cap almost five-fold from here. That’s a much tougher ask.

Valuations

Turning to valuations, Nvidia currently trades on a forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 15 using the next financial year’s earnings forecast. Meanwhile, Alphabet’s on 24.

SpaceX doesn’t have a P/E ratio because it’s not expected to be profitable next year. It does have a price-to-sales ratio though – that’s about 30 using next year’s revenue forecast which is very high.

So Nvidia’s the cheapest stock today by a wide margin. This could help it get to $10trn first. Because at current levels, there’s scope for an upward valuation re-rating.

This is less likely with the other two names because they look fairly valued and overvalued respectively (in my view).

Growth drivers

As for growth drivers, all three companies have them. For Nvidia, AI chips should continue to drive growth. But so should new technologies in areas such as robotics and self-drive cars.

For Alphabet, cloud computing and AI (including AI chips) are likely to be key sources of growth. YouTube could be another major driver though.

With SpaceX, I see its two main growth drivers as satellite broadband and AI compute. The AI side of the business is worth highlighting here – if the company can continue landing deals with hyperscalers and AI labs, it could see strong revenue growth in the years ahead.

My call

Putting this all together, I’m going to rule out SpaceX as the first $10trn company. It definitely has some exciting growth drivers but I just can’t see the company’s market-cap increasing five-fold any time soon.

That leaves us with Nvidia and Alphabet. And to be honest, I think both have a decent chance of hitting the milestone first.

My gut feeling however, is that it’ll be Nvidia. With its higher market-cap and lower valuation, I reckon it’s likely to be first to $10trn.

Of course, if AI spending slows dramatically, my thesis could come unstuck. However, with hyperscalers expected to spend a significant amount of money on the AI buildout again next year, I think the company’s prospects look pretty good and that it’s worth considering as an investment.

Should you invest £5,000 in Nvidia right now?

Euphoric happy older mature spouses celebrating successful investment or purchase." style="float:left; margin:0 15px 15px 0;" decoding="async" loading="lazy">

Despite a sizeable pullback in March, Barclays‘ (LSE: BARC) shares performed well in the first half of 2026. Over the six-month period, they rose around 7%.

I think there’s a good chance they’ll do even better in the second half. Here’s why.

Multiple growth drivers

The way I see it, the set-up for Barclays is very favourable right now. For a start, the bank looks well positioned to generate income growth in the short/medium term.

One key driver here is likely to be investment banking revenues. With mega IPOs like SpaceX taking place, and firms of all shapes and sizes raising capital and doing acquisitions to fuel growth, there should be plenty of opportunities for the firm here.

Another is trading revenues. Financial markets continue to be volatile due to economic/geopolitical uncertainty and this should be creating plenty of opportunities for Barclays’ equity and fixed income traders.

Additionally, there’s wealth management. With markets near all-time highs, Barclays’ Private Bank and Wealth Management (PBWM) division should be cleaning up at the moment, as fees here are linked to assets under management.

Trading at a discount

A second reason I’m bullish on the shares is the valuation. It’s still pretty low, especially compared to some other large-scale banks.

With City analysts expecting earnings per share of 52.5p from the bank this year, Barclays is trading on a forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 9.7 right now. By contrast, JP Morgan – which also has trading, investment banking, and wealth management divisions – is about 15.

It’s worth noting that brokers have been raising their price targets recently and many of these are well above the current share price. For example, Jefferies just went to £5.90, which is about 16% above today’s share price.

This kind of broker activity can help to boost a stock. So it’s another factor in the bull case.

Upward share price trend

Finally, the share price is a reason to be optimistic in relation to the outlook. Because it’s in a strong upward trend and trends often stay in place for a while.

Moreover, it recently breached the 500p mark and is currently at levels not seen since 2007. That means there’s likely to be minimal overhead resistance – it’s unlikely there are many investors sitting on losses and waiting to breakeven to sell.

Worth a closer look?

Put all this together and there’s a lot to like about Barclays’ shares, in my view. Ultimately, we are looking at a stock that offers the winning combination of earnings growth potential, a low valuation, and share price momentum.

There are risks around an economic and/or consumer slowdown, of course – banks are always vulnerable here. All things considered however, I believe the shares are worth a look as we start the second half of 2026.

But Barclays isn’t the only stock I like the look of right now…

Micron (NASDAQ: MU) stock has been a standout performer recently. Year to date, it’s up around 300%.

Own the chip stock or thinking about buying it for your ISA or SIPP? Here are three things to know.

Q3 earnings are this week

First, let’s talk about Micron’s Q3 earnings. These will be posted after the closing bell on Wednesday 24 June.

Now, we can expect these to be strong because demand for memory chips is off the charts at the moment. Micron announcing recently that it is sold out of high-bandwidth memory for the remainder of this calendar year.

In terms of specific numbers, here’s the Q3 guidance that the company provided last quarter:

Note that in Q3 last financial year, revenue was $9.3bn while non-GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) was $1.91. So we are looking at revenue growth of around 270% and EPS growth of around 900%, which is incredible.

I’ll point out that if Micron misses these guidance figures, or its guidance for Q4 is weak, the stock will most likely fall. I think there’s a good chance that the company will beat these forecasts and raise its guidance, given the high demand for memory chips from hyperscalers.

Looking beyond the numbers, investors will be focused on Micron’s spending plans as the company is spending heavily to increase production capacity. They’ll also be focused on contract negotiations – recently memory companies have been locking in longer-term contracts to reduce demand volatility.

Analysts are raising their price targets

Another thing to know about Micron is that analysts are aggressively increasing their price targets at the moment. Here are some increases over the last week or so:

Deutsche Bank: $1,000 to $1,500

Citi: $840 to $1,200

Stifel: $550 to $1,550

Wedbush: $500 to $1,300

Bernstein SocGen: $510 to $1,300

TD Cowen: $660 to $1,500

Almost all of those targets are higher than the current share price. In other words, analysts expect the rally to continue.

The stock still looks cheap

Finally, the valuation is still low. With analysts forecasting earnings per share of $115 for the financial year starting in September, the forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is only around 10.

It needs to be stressed that that $115 figure is just an estimate. There’s no guarantee that Micron’s earnings will be that high.

Will I buy?

Despite this low valuation, and the bullish broker sentiment, I’m not a buyer of the stock today. I’m just not sure about the demand backdrop.

Demand for memory chips could stay high for years. Alternatively, we could just be looking at a short-term bottleneck at the moment.

Another thing that spooks me here is the share price chart. It’s parabolic.

I’ve seen plenty of charts like this in my 25 years of investing and they often reverse sharply at some point. So, I think buying now would be risky.

Given the uncertainty in relation to demand and the chart, I’m going to focus on other stocks in the tech space. I’m looking for companies where long-term revenue growth is nearly guaranteed.
